Do You Know God?
Look at the world around you. Can you honestly believe that everything you see was randomly created by stuff that was floating around? When you see such complexity at multiple levels, isn't it difficult to imagine it just came together? How many times have you heard in man's history that things were created out of thin air? Evolution tries to explain this as the luck of probabilities, but the chance of this happening at the beginning of time is worse than you winning the lottery at the same time that you are struck by lightning during an airplane crash.
We have a more plausible explanation (not that we made it up - you can read about it in the Bible which was inspired from the creator Himself). God created us in His own image to have abundant and meaningful life. He did not make us robots to automatically love and obey him, but he gave us the ability to think and the freedom to make our own choices. The first humans chose to disobey God and go their own willful way (after being tricked and lied to).
We still make that choice today. This results in separation from God (that hole in your heart that you cannot seem to fill). This separation has allowed for pain and suffering for any and all of us, despite how little we have sinned individually. God is perfect and just, so he has problems with this. He loves us, but he will not take away our ability to choose being with or without Him. Being perfectly just, He also must deal with rebellion and sin.
On our own, there’s no way we can attain the perfection needed to bridge the gap to God. Through the ages, individuals have tried many ways...all without success. Because God loves us and wants us back, he worked out a solution to this problem. He became a man to lead a perfect life so that all of our sins could be paid for and to give us an example of how we should live our lives. He died on the cross and rose from the grave, paying for all of our sins and bridging the gap between God and us. But this is a gift that must still be accepted by us. If we choose, we can deny the gift and go our unhappy way. But there will be a day when God will deal with each and every sin (again He is just - so this must happen). If you accept Christ's substitute for your sin, you will not have to worry - all of your sins will be dealt with.
Until then, he will help you with what you are dealing with right now. Your problems and issues become His as well, and he has lots of help for you: His written words (the Bible), His church (those that have been forgiven but still need help), and the Holy Spirit (that part of God that lives inside of you to help you if you will listen). Many people have this personal relationship with Christ, and their lifes have changed so much for the better. This isn't religion - this is a personal love and worship of our God whom we can talk intimately with. Not all Christians have gotten this close to Him, so some of those who profess to be Christian are still learning. None of us are perfect, and He is happy to take us no matter how far away from Him we have gotten. There is no sin that He hasn't already paid for - so if you haven't already, ask Him now to be a Christian. Bow your head, close your eyes, and tell Him that you need help and accept the gift that Jesus has given you.
If this is interesting to you or if you have questions, we would be happy to talk to you even further (Please contact us). We don't have all of the answers just because we are forgiven, but we have learned some things that can help you. Together we can share with one another, support one another, and help others see how easy it is to be a Christian.
